Kilimanjaro. The Serengeti is the quintessential African safari, deriving its name from the Maasai word “sirinetu,” meaning “endless plains.” Actually, visiting Maasai communities and learning their customs and way of life is an engaging part of many of these itineraries. Here in the heart of Tanzania, you will have some of the best opportunities to see the predators and prey that call this their home. Wooded hills, massive termite mounds, rocky kopjes, and acacia tree-lined rivers adorn the sweeping savanna. From December to July, you might see the wildebeest migration and antelope, or if you are traveling from June to October you’ll have your best chance of seeing lions & leopards. Some of our comprehensive Africa expeditions combine Tanzania with stops in South Africa and Botswana too.

We did the Nyiragongo hike with Moses – he was awesome! Quick to communicate, helpful with border crossings, personable and great sense of humor. We were impressed with enthusiasm of all the people we met to promote safety and enjoyment of what this amazing country has to offer! This is an experience beyond all others – if you have any doubts – just do it!

I cannot speak highly enough about our 3 week trip to this place and the services provided by this travel company. Everything was seamless. The private guides were interesting and knowledgable. We felt that they were more than just guides. It was like we had a friend in each city.
